That whole compromise idea for the tax cuts didn’t last long. The House of Representatives voted Thursday to extend lower and middle-class tax cuts, but Senate Republicans have vowed to never allow it to move forward. The White House and congressional leaders have been working toward a deal on extending the Bush-era tax cuts, but Republicans have remained dead-set on keeping the tax cuts in place for those who earn more than $250,000. The White House was pleased with the results of the House’s vote, but Senate Minority Leader John Boehner, who is set to be the next speaker of the House, called it “chicken crap.” Three House Republicans broke with the party and voted for the bill, while 20 Democrats voted against it.
