Under the control of ISIS, the public hospitals in Mosul have been forced to shut down their family-planning departments and are not allowed to distribute contraceptive pills to women. According to the Iraqi Human Rights Ministry, ISIS has also ordered hospitals to prioritize the group’s wounded soldiers for treatment. A female doctor was reportedly recently lashed for not wearing the proper face veil.
