Israel Kills Militant in Gaza Strike

Hours after Gaza declared a cease-fire, Israeli aircraft struck two militants in Gaza, killing one and wounding the other. The strike was the latest blow in a weekend of violence that left nine militants and one Israeli citizen dead as the sides traded strikes and rocket attacks. Fighting had died down Sunday after Islamic Jihad, the Palestinian militant group behind the rocket attacks, declared a cease-fire. Islamic Jihad had instigated the violence earlier in the week with a rocket attack on the anniversary of Israel’s killing of its founder. Israel confirmed the air strike Sunday, saying the militants were preparing to fire more rockets.
