Time for the Sunday-morning assault. Key House Republican Darrell Issa of California insisted on Sunday on Meet the Press that the investigation into Benghzai isn’t targeting Hillary Clinton or the Democratic Party. Issa is the head of the investigation into the State Department’s response to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador. Issa said he would seek depositions on the Benghazi review board heads Ambassador Thomas Pickering and retired Adm. Mike Mullen. Meanwhile, former Defense secretary Robert Gates on Face the Nation Sunday defended the administration’s response, and said that he would have done the same while at the helm of the Defense Department.
