Welcome aboard! Former U.S. Rep. Jane Harman will succeed her late husband Sidney on the board of directors at the Newsweek Daily Beast Co., the company announced Thursday. Sidney Harman, an audio pioneer, philanthropist, and executive chairman of the company, died April 12 at the age of 92. He bought Newsweek last year before merging it with The Daily Beast in February. (The deal was announced in November.) Jane Harman served as a congresswoman from California for 16 years until stepping down in February to serve as the president and CEO of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. “As a director, I will work to support the best of journalism—in print, digital, and mobile,” she said in a statement.
