The Kennedy family was worried that The Kennedys miniseries would be too salacious, but they're apparently okay with never before published interviews with Jacqueline Kennedy airing on ABC. Her daughter, Caroline Kennedy said: "It is a great privilege to be able to share these recollections with the millions of people who admire my parents." ABC acquired the interviews and will run them as part of a series of specials on the network in September, including one primetime special that Diane Sawyer will anchor called Jacqueline Kennedy, In Her Own Words. Journalist Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. has had the interviews in his clutches since he conducted them in 1964, and no one has heard them since since Kennedy requested they not be published until after her death. The primetime special will coincide with the release of a book based on the interviews, Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F. Kennedy.
