Jay Leno will soon receive a career boost from his 10 PM talk show premiering later this year, but first the late night talker must appease his own guild about a minor fracas last year. Leno raised a few eyebrows during the 100-day writers strike last year when he returned to the air by writing his own monologues. Under the Writers Guild of America strike rules, members weren’t allowed to perform work that could be done by striking writers. Leno verbally supported the strike but now the WGA trial committee is reviewing his high-profile case, with possible penalties including a reprimand, fine, or expulsion from the union.
