The case of Colleen LaRose, an American arrested for allegedly planning to murder a Swedish cartoonist, won’t go to trial after all. In a hearing Tuesday in Philadelphia, LaRose—who went by the pseudonym “Jihad Jane” online—switched her plea from not guilty to guilty on charges of conspiracy to support terrorists, conspiracy to kill in a foreign country, lying to investigators, and attempted identity theft. She was arrested in October 2009 and charged with plotting the murder of Lars Vilks, who was the target of fierce criticism from Muslims for drawing the prophet Muhammad with the body of a dog. LaRose now faces life in prison.
