Revenge is a dish best served humorously. Following Rick Sanchez’s rant against Jon Stewart—including labeling the Daily Show host a “bigot”—that got him fired from his anchor position at CNN, Stewart retaliated Saturday evening during Comedy Central’s Night of Too Many Stars event. Stewart, who hosted the event at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre, brought up Sanchez in his opening monologue. Talking about the event’s role in raising money for autism education, Stewart said, “If you went on radio and said the Jews control the media... you may want to hold on to your money.” Stewart also suggested, “All he has to do is apologize to us, and we'll hire him back.” David Letterman joined in on the fun later in the evening when, making a surprise guest appearance, he told Stewart he was in the city “helping Rick Sanchez clean out his office.” Even Tom Brokaw took a shot at Sanchez later in the evening. The Night of Too Many Stars will air on Comedy Central on Oct. 21.
