The federal judge who ruled that Prop 8, a California law which banned gay marriage, was unconstitutional will announce Thursday whether he will immediately repeal the ban or wait until the appeals court has ruled. Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker has the power to turn back the California law, which voters approved in the 2008 election. An appeals court decision could reinstate Prop 8, if the court disagrees with Walker. The decision should come around noon in San Francisco.
