A federal judge in Detroit temporarily put on hold the deportation of more than 100 Iraqi Christians who could face torture or death if they return to Iraq. The deportations were halted for 14 days while U.S. District Judge Mark Goldsmith decides whether his court is able to hear their case. The Justice Department has said the Iraqis must appeal to an immigration court, rather than a district court. They are being supported by the American Civil Liberties Union.
