Karate Kid won the Friday box office with an estimated $18.8 million, trouncing its rival remake, The A-Team, whose haul was just $9.7 million. Viewers favored the pairing of Jackie Chan and Will Smith’s son Jaden over Liam Neeson, Bradley Cooper, and Jessica Biel. Meanwhile, Shrek Forever After came in third place, getting $4.5 million and coming close to a domestic total of $200 million. Fourth and fifth place were taken by Get Him to the Greek and The Killers, respectively.
