From Gisele to Kate Moss, take our quiz.Elizabeth Parks Kibbey09.06.12 4:45 AM ETGetty Images (3); AP Photo (bottom left)Getty Images (3); AP Photo (bottom left)The model Ève Salvail once stunned the fashion world when she appeared with a dragon tattoo emblazoned on the side of her shaved head on the Gaultier runway in the mid 1990s. But these days, model tattoos are de rigueur, as fashion’s top names don ink everywhere from their necks to their toes. In honor of New York Fashion Week, which kicks off Thursday, we’ve compiled images of our favorite inked fashion plates. But there’s a trick:it’s up to you to match the tat to the famous face. Evan Agostini / Getty ImagesThis stunning South American model is no soccer mom, but spends a fair share of time on the field cheering for her all-star husband. And she has two tattoos: a star on her wrist and a crescent moon and stars on her ankle. Evan Agostini / Getty ImagesAnswer: Gisele BundchenAs Bundchen explained to Vogue, her penchant for celestial tattoos is a result of her grandmother’s maxim that everyone has a special star. When Bundchen moved to New York City and couldn’t see her star amongst the light pollution, she had it tattooed on her wrist so that it would always be with her. Ben Pruchnie / Getty ImagesThis dashing British beauty counts Mick Fleetwood as an uncle and keeps her body art family focused. The recent star of the Somerset by Alice Temperley collection film even brought her sister along to co-star in the video for Temperley, one of Kate Middleton’s favorite designers. Ben Pruchnie / Getty ImagesAnswer: Lily DonaldsonDonaldson has the names of her mother and sister, Tiffany and Aurelia, tattooed on her inner wrist in her own handwriting. “It means that whatever happens … I feel like my mum and my sister, or a bit of them anyway, are with me,” she told Vogue Australia. Daniele Venturelli / Getty ImagesThere’s nothing understated about this Brazilian babe’s ever-growing collection of ink, which ranges from wings, roses, and lettering, to an astrological sign and angel. Apparently, her current beau, Rohan Marley, doesn’t mind a bit. Daniele Venturelli / Getty ImagesAnswer: Isabeli FontanaOne of the model's boldest moves when it comes to body art is the large angel that adorns her left arm in honor of her son Lucas. We can’t wait to see what comes next, perhaps a wedding tattoo when she and Marley tie the knot? Angela Weiss / Getty ImagesShe’s known to say “one day you’re in and the next day you’re out,” but this fashion-world shot-caller has managed to stay “in” ever since arriving in the limelight in the early 90s. While long-wed to a world-renowned crooner, not even annual vow renewals could keep her marriage alive. It ended earlier this year. Angela Weiss / Getty ImagesAnswer: Heidi KlumKlum’s tattoo is a reminder of happier days with now-ex-husband Seal. After being married four years Klum got this tattoo; an abstraction of Seal’s name and three stars to represent their three children. Kevin Winter / Getty ImagesOnce linked to the uber-inked rock star Lenny Kravitz, this Brazilian bombshell has a tribal-inspired tattoo curled around her ankle and is now married to Serbian NBA star Marko Jaric and pregnant with her second child. Kevin Winter / Getty ImagesAnswer: Adriana LimaWhile Lima, a devout Catholic, famously spoke out against premarital sex in an interview with GQ (“Sex is for after marriage,” she said). Lucky for her the Catholic church has nothing against body art. Robert Marquardt / Getty ImagesDominating the runways for over two decades, this supermodel has been in the tabloids almost as much as she has been in glossy magazines. Following a lavish wedding to Kills guitarist Jamie Hince in 2011, the focus has been all fashion, and her appearance on the cover of French Vogue’s current issue is proof she’s still at the top of her game. Robert Marquardt / Getty ImagesAnswer: Kate MossTattoos of various sizes adorn her wrists, ankle, and derriere, though don’t seem to be an issue for any of her many high profile employers, such as David Yurman, who simply removes the offending ink in Photoshop. Stephen Lovekin / Getty ImagesLuck, prosperity, and love are tattooed in Chinese characters on the inside of this model’s foot, and she can certainly lay claim to all three in her life. One of the industry’s top earners, this doll-faced Canadian has also tried her hand at design in collaboration with the likes of Rag and Bone and Rachel Roy. Stephen Lovekin / Getty ImagesAnswer: Jessica StamStam will make her fall advertising campaigns for Skull Candy and Basil Soda. Keep a look out for those Chinese characters, as she’s sure to be just as busy walking the runways in the coming months. Fred Duval / Getty ImagesThe understated heart that adorns this girl’s wrist hardly warrants the title “tattoo,” as compared to the serious ink featured on the forearm of her Transformers predecessor Megan Fox. Which Victoria’s Secret Angel is she? Fred Duval / Getty ImagesAnswer: Rosie Huntington-WhiteleyHer tattoo takes a backseat and lets her famous features do the talking, but no one’s complaining. Huntington-Whiteley is busy filming Mad Max: Fury Road, set for release in early 2013. Ian Gavan / Getty ImagesThis ginger-topped model/actress has appeared in ad campaigns for the likes of Marc Jacobs, in films alongside Heath Ledger, and has also studied art history at Cambridge. Ian Gavan / Getty ImagesAnswer: Lily ColeGiven her academic credentials, it’s not too surprising that Cole's tattoo is a literary reference. It reads “ut apes geometriam,” which literally translated means “as bees, geometry,” meaning “I possess philosophy by instinct”—a quote from Victor Hugo’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesAfter getting this tattoo of a hanger on her neck, she told The New York Post, “actually my agency doesn’t even know yet! I hope they don’t get mad.” They must not have gotten too upset, because she’s getting top billing at runways from Paris to Milan, and recently stars in Usher’s new video, “Drive.” Fernanda Calfat / Getty ImagesAnswer: Chanel ImanAs she told V Magazine, “I love tattoos. I’m obsessed with them. I have to slow down though ‘cause I am a model,” and from the looks of things she has. From attending this year’s Met Ball on the arm of Tom Ford to gracing the page’s of Vogue’s current September issue there’s no doubt that this ambitious beauty is putting her career first.
