The Kennedy family’s relentless lobbying against a controversial miniseries dramatizing their clan played a key part in the History Channel’s ultimate decision to yank it from its lineup. Caroline Kennedy, JFK’s daughter, reportedly lobbied Anne Sweeney, who heads Disney and ABC Television and is a member of the board that oversees A&E, the History Channel’s parent company. Meanwhile, Maria Shriver, daughter of Eunice Kennedy Shriver, is said to have worked her own boldfaced connections at NBC Universal, where she used to work in the news division. She also has ties to Sweeney. The official word from A&E is that the miniseries “is not a fit” for their brand. A former JFK aide allegedly called an early version of the script “vindictive” and "malicious.”
