There’s still some bad blood between The Kennedys’ producer and the History Channel. Joel Surnow said Thursday that he “truly” believes that if, “Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg” had produced the miniseries about the political family, it would have aired. Instead, the channel pulled the miniseries after announcing the “ dramatic interpretation is not fit for the History brand,” and ReelzChannel picked up the miniseries and will air it in the U.S. Surnow, whose producing credits include 24, said he “always, always” felt his conservative politics would be a problem, but insists, “I’ve never had any political agenda.” Rumors have flown that JFK’s daughter Caroline Kennedy and his niece Maria Shriver, the former first lady of California, were influential in the History Channel dropping the miniseries.
