Kenya’s Geoffrey Kirui and Edna Kiplagat won the men’s and women’s races respectively at the 121st Boston Marathon on Monday. Kirui won his first Boston Marathon after pulling away from American runner Galen Rupp with only a few miles left in the race. His unofficial race time was 2:09:37. On the women’s side, policewoman Edna Kiplagat finished the race in 2:21:52, beating second-place Rose Chelimo, of Bahrain, by 59 seconds.
