Secretary of State John Kerry met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Sunday. Kerry is the highest-ranking U.S. official to visit Egypt since al-Sisi ousted President Mohamed Mursi. Kerry arrived one day after the Egyptian court upheld the death sentence for 183 members of the Muslim Brotherhood. Dspite this, Kerry showed optimism for Egypt's humanitarian future. "There are issues of concern ... but we know how to work at these,” he said at an meeting before talking with al-Sisi. This visit is part of Kerry's larger tour of the Middle East and Europe to warn other countries of the severity of the crisis in Iraq.
