A Montana woman who was found dead in a car Wednesday reportedly had been able to call her family from the trunk after she was kidnapped. Around 10:30 p.m., Rita Maze, 47, told her husband and daughter that “a large man in a black hoodie” had hit her on her head and stuffed her into the trunk of a car. Her family had police on the other line. Police said Maze was driving home from Helena to Great Falls when she was taken at the rest stop. Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo C. Dutton said her body was found in her vehicle, near Spokane, Washington, in a parking lot about two hours after that phone call. Spokane officials had been tracking her cellphone, which is how they located the car. Officials have not said how she was killed.
