Karl Lagerfeld must have really wanted to drive his points home in a recent interview with well, Interview—on several instances, he is described as “slapping the table” with his hand to express his points thoroughly. But despite his gestures, Lagerfeld’s comments take center stage. Of his collection (for his Karl Lagerfeld label, a much more edgier and wilder look than his work with Chanel) he says, “I’m more interested in working out technical ideas than I am in themes or illustrating a scene or a country or whatever.” He fervently loves ‘60s music and insists that as far as what people should look like before they go to sleep, “Everyone should go to bed like they have a date at the door.” And his advice for achieving supermodel status? “It’s not being perfect. What one needs is a face that people can identify in a second.”
