One home has been destroyed, and 33 others threatened after a landslide on Whidbey Island off the coast of Washington tore a chunk off the coast on Wednesday. Officials say the slide stretched 400 to 500 yards across the coast and went downhill for 600 to 700 yards. Thirty-four homes are being evacuated, 17 above the cliff and 17 below, though Central Whidbey Fire and Rescue Chief Ed Hartin said that more homes could be lost. "There's not anything we can do to stop the movement of the ground," said Hartin.
