The Los Angeles Police Department is investigating an officer-involved shooting in which an 18-year-old African-American man was fatally shot on Saturday after fleeing his vehicle that was being chased by officers. According to police, Carnell Snell Jr. was armed. Officers tried to stop the vehicle because it had paper plates, suggesting it might have been stolen, but it did not stop for police. Snell was believed to be one of the passengers. Protesters began gathering almost immediately on Saturday near where the shooting occurred.
