The lead detective and another officer involved in the death of Laquan McDonald have been put on administrative duty by the Chicago Police Department, some 14 months after the unarmed 17-year-old was fatally shot. Inspector General Joseph Ferguson recommended that authorities remove Det. David March and Officer Joseph Walsh from active duty, as both have given statements on the case that conflicted with dashboard-camera video of the shooting. Walsh’s partner, Jason Van Dyke, was the officer who pulled the trigger and shot McDonald.
