A Bronx man was arrested for injuring three pilots by pointing some kind of laser beam at aircraft heading to and from LaGuardia Airport. Police said Frank Egan, 36, was charged after officers from the NYPD’s aviation unit spotted the laser being pointed out of his apartment in the Bronx. One of the two aircrafts the laser beam hit was a helicopter piloted by police officers, who had to be treated for eye injuries. The other pilot was flying an Air Canada commercial airliner and was hospitalized in Toronto. Police say Egan eventually admitted to using the laser they found in his apartment. Egan faces charges of reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a weapon, felony assault, assault on a police officer, and menacing a police officer.
