Poor Lena Dunham has a knack for having a bad time at the Met Ball.
Last year, she complained that she was seated next to ballplayer Odell Beckham Jr., who she said was more interested in “scrolling Instagram” than talking to her, and this year, it now transpires, she had to leave the party to go to the emergency room, according to a report on Page Six this morning.
The Girls creator had to leave the event when she suffered what Page Six describes as “a medical issue,” but was released after tests.
Dunham has been an important advocate in raising the profile of endometriosis, a condition in which tissue grows outside the uterus.
Her representatives have not commented on whether Dunham’s ER run was connected to surgery she has received for the condition, although Page Six cited a source who said “the latest incident stemmed from her battle with the disorder.”
Just last month, Dunham wrote that she was endometriosis-free after a fifth surgical procedure.
“My surgery went off without a hitch,” she wrote. “There was no endometriosis left. Between my surgeries and hormonal intervention, I was disease-free. That doesn’t mean it can never return, but for now, once my sutures have been removed and my bruises have changed... I will be healthy.”
