Libya continues to spiral into a full-fledged civil war, as Muammar Gaddafi sends war planes to bomb rebel-held areas. A CNN crew witnessed Libyan air force planes dropping two bombs on al-Brega, an eastern Libyan region that’s a center of the country’s oil and gas industries. As his grip on control has grown more tenuous, Gaddafi has launched ever more violent attacks on the opposition, including Wednesday’s bombings. The strikes have spurred talk of foreign military intervention, and on Wednesday the International Criminal Court in the Hague also announced that it would open a formal probe into crimes against humanity committed by the regime. That process, however, could be very slow.
