Libyan rebels have entered Muammar Gaddafi’s compound. After temporarily pulling back from Tripoli, the rebels pushed back into the capital and surrounded the fortified Bab Al-Aziziya compound. Heavy fighting followed, but Reuters says Gaddafi’s forces have stopped resisting and that the rebels are firing into the air in celebration inside Bab Al-Aziziya. It’s unclear if Gaddafi is in the compound, but the Russian head of the World Chess Federation, a longtime friend of Gaddafi’s, says the Libyan ruler called him to say he was alive and well and still in Tripoli.
