Unrest in Libya hasn’t brought down leader Muammar Gaddafi yet, but it has unseated Sir Howard Davies. The director of the prestigious London School of Economics announced his resignation today, citing furor over his ties to Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, one of the embattled leader’s sons. On Davies’ recommendation, the school accepted 300,000 pounds from a foundation run by the younger Gaddafi. In addition, Davies traveled to Libya to advise the regime on financial reforms, which he called a "personal error of judgement." To add insult to reputation injury, the school is now investigating allegations that the thesis Saif Gaddafi submitted for his doctorate may have contained plagiarism.
