Baz Luhrmann, director of the much-anticipated upcoming flick The Great Gatsby, is reportedly already busy making plans for his favorite leading man’s next role, in Hamlet. “To me, Gatsby is the American Hamlet,” Luhrmann told The Hollywood Reporter at the film’s New York City premiere. Luhrmann’s view of Shakespeare is one DiCaprio knows well—starring in the critically acclaimed 1996 film Romeo + Juliet. Whether the 37-year-old is ready for Shakespeare 2.0, however, remains to be seen. Luhrmann, for one, is keeping his fingers crossed. “It’s just a dream,” he said.
