French president Emmanuel Macron told lawmakers Monday that France is ready for a “radically new path” after presidential and parliamentary elections moved his new centrist party into power. He promised a “profound transformation” of French politics that would include shrinking the number of seats in both parliamentary houses by a third and changing the electoral system to allow for more proportional representation. Macron said he wants all the reforms to be completed in a year by either a parliamentary or referendum vote.
