Malaysia has recalled its ambassador to North Korea on Monday, amid heightened tensions between the two nations following the killing of North Korea leader Kim Jong-un’s half-brother at the airport in Kuala Lumpur. Kim Jong-nam, the estranged half-brother of the dictator, died last week after he was allegedly poisoned. South Korea has blamed the killing on the north. Malaysia said it was seeking “an explanation” in recalling its ambassador. North Korea’s ambassador to Malaysia, Kang Chol, suggested on Monday that “there is someone else’s hand behind the investigation.” The comments follow a bizarre scenario in which the women accused of poisoning Kim Jong-nam later said they believed they were engaging in a TV prank.
