Celebrities and film luminaries posted heartfelt tributes to James Earl Jones—the legendary actor famous for his acting roles in Field of Dreams and Dr. Strangelove, as well as providing the voices for Mufasa in The Lion King and Darth Vader in Star Wars. Mark Hamill, who portrayed Luke Skywalker in the original trilogy, gave a short toast to the legendary actor: “RIP Dad,” he wrote in a post on X. George Lucas, who originally cast Jones to provide a more menacing voice for the villain in Star Wars, posted, “For nearly half a century he was Darth Vader, but the secret to it all is he was a beautiful human being.” Kathleen Kennedy, the current president of Lucasfilm, called him “one of the most versatile and talented actors of our time.” Disney CEO Bob Iger posted his own tribute to Jones on social media, praising the actor for leaving “an indelible mark on generations of audiences.” He also received praise from his fellow actors, including LeVar Burton and Kevin Costner, his Field of Dreams co-star.
