The former University of Missouri assistant professor who became infamous for attempting to block a photographer’s access to a campus anti-racism protest last fall says she believes she was fired because she is white. Ex-communications Professor Melissa Click told the The Chronicle of Higher Education that her dismissal after video of the incident went viral was the result of state legislators pressuring the school board to send a message that black people cannot stand up to white people. “This is all about racial politics,” she alleged. “I’m a white lady. I’m an easy target.” She later added: “Black people love me.”
