Former Mexican soccer star Omar Ortiz has been arrested on suspicion of working for a gang of kidnappers, reportedly having admitted to helping to pick out wealthy victims, according to government security spokesman Jorge Domene. Domene said Ortiz allegedly worked with a gang responsible for at least 20 kidnappings that sought an average $73,000 per victim. The 35-year-old international goalie, nicknamed El Gato, with a trademark goatee, allegedly received a cut of more than $7,300 for each case. Victims reportedly included the husband of pop singer Gloria Trevi.
