Michael Brown Laid to Rest

Thousands of mourners paid tribute to Michael Brown at his funeral in Ferguson, Missouri, on Monday. The 2,500-person capacity church sanctuary was full, and crowds, including many who did not know Brown or his family, were moved into overflow rooms. Rev. Charles Ewing, Brown’s great uncle, delivered the eulogy, saying, “Michael Brown’s blood is crying from the ground, crying for vengeance, crying for justice.” Rev. Al Sharpton lamented that the teen was being buried instead of starting his second week of college, and berated protesters for unruly behavior. “They had to break their mourning to ask folks to stop looting and rioting... Can you imagine?” he asked. “They have to stop mourning to get you to control your anger.” Also in attendance were the family of Trayvon Martin, White House officials, and Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri.
