This, especially if read in conjunction with Col. C. E. Callwell's classic Small Wars, will teach you everything you need to know about how a small group of good shots gifted with instinctive fieldcraft and determination can fight off the occupying forces of a great power for years, and even win at the peace table after the war is over (see North Vietnam, Paris Peace Negotiations). The Boer War was an epic story, involving many major figures in later history, including Churchill and Kitchener, but it demonstrates that even with immense cruelty—the British invented the concentration camp to lock up the families of the Boer guerillas, and destroyed Boer farms, crops, and livestock—and great power resources, it is still possible to lose this kind of war. Both these books should be compulsory reading at the Pentagon and West Point.
