Record snow has been battering parts of the upper Midwest, and it's only getting started. A National Weather Service blizzard watches stretches from South Dakota and Wisconsin all the way down to Illinois and Mississippi. The northernmost states like Wisconsin and Minnesota have already been pummeled by heavy snow, driving winds and sub-zero temperatures, leading to 319 auto accidents in Minnesota alone. The Twin Cities measured nearly 17 inches of snow the first week of December, and another 15 to 20 inches is expected across parts of the Midwest over the weekend. The storm stranded part of the New York Giants football team, which was headed to play the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. As of Saturday night, the team was stuck in Kansas City.
