Sunny days are coming to the Mississippi Museum of Art, which announced that its latest exhibit will celebrate the art of Jim Henson. A group of children sang the Sesame Street theme song to pay tribute to The Muppets’ creator and Mississippi native, who will be the focus of an upcoming show in the place where he formulated the furry characters generations of children have come to adore. Running through March 14, Jim Henson’s Fantastic World includes 130 Henson-related objects, ranging from puppets to preliminary sketches to movie props. After its Mississippi stint, the exhibition will travel to 12 other sites across the country. “It’s such a treat to get to know Jim Henson through his doodles and drawings, his puppets and his fantastic performances,” said the show’s curator, Karen Falk, of the late puppeteer and creative mind.
