Janet Killough Barreto kept ahead of authorities for five years, using aliases and disguises to evade capture until Tuesday in Portland, Oregon. Barreto, 43, and her husband were accused of going to Guatemalan adoption agencies in 2005 and 2006 to buy children, who were then brought back to the U.S. and beaten and starved. In 2008, a 2-year-old girl died, allegedly from the abuse. Barreto made her escape in 2009 when she was released on bond, and was added to the most wanted list in June 2013. She was caught in a shopping mall.
