Shortly after Florida pastor Terry Jones canceled his controversial bonfire, claiming he had a deal with a Muslim cleric to move the mosque away from ground zero, the same cleric, Florida Imam Muhammad Musri, denied an agreement was ever in place. Jones called the denial “very disturbing.” "We were promised from the imam here," Jones said. "In the meeting, there were several people who can confirm that. We find that very devastating. If that [denial] is true, that would mean the imam lied to us." Still, the Quran-burning remains off the schedule for the time being. The imam in charge of planning Park51 in Manhattan, Feisal Abdul Rauf, was mystified by talk of a deal. "I am glad that Pastor Jones has decided not to burn any Qurans," Rauf said. "However, I have not spoken with Pastor Jones or Imam Musri. I am surprised by their announcement."
