The Pew Forum projects in a new report that Muslims will be as numerous as Christians worldwide by 2050, while the world’s share of non-believers will shrink. Atheists and agnostics will make up a larger share in the U.S. and other Western nations but will lose out in their share of the global religious pie. By 2050, Pew also estimates that practicing Jews will no longer be America’s second-largest religious group. Instead, that title will be claimed by a growing Muslim population, which will also make up 10 percent of Europe.
