We’re not the only country that sends our pop starlets to jail. German singer Nadja Benaissa, a member of the very successful German pop group No Angels, faces up to 10 years in prison for failing to disclose her HIV status to three sexual partners, one of whom she infected. Benaissa was arrested last year in Frankfurt and was later charged with causing grievous bodily harm to a man, identified as Ralph S., who contracted the virus. At the beginning of her trial this week, Benaissa said in the statement that she was “deeply sorry” for her “absolutely careless" conduct and dishonesty. "The last thing I wanted was for my partner to get infected,” she said. If convicted, she faces up to 10 years in prison.
