A New Jersey police officer was wounded and a suspect fatally shot in a shootout in Atlantic City early Saturday, police said. Atlantic City police Chief Henry White said the shooting happened after officers stopped a vehicle with three men inside near a parking garage of Caesars casino at around 4 a.m. “At this point I don’t know what the reason for the initial stop was,” White said at a morning press conference. “But as the officers were getting out of the car, the males opened fire on our officers, striking one.” Police are still looking for two of the suspects, he said, while the third was killed in the shootout. The wounded officer, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital and underwent surgery Saturday morning. The NJ Cop Shot program is offering a $20,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the suspects.
