A Different Kind Of Wall Mart
Tan, rested and ready, the Berlin wall may make a comeback in south Florida. German engineer Hans-Michael Pelzl has 1,000 tons of assorted wall pieces, gates, watchtowers and electric fences stored in Ft. Lauderdale (and 2,000 tons more back in Berlin) awaiting construction of a $30 million theme park, Die Mauer (The Wall). No Ferris wheels here. Instead: death-defying escapes from East to West via tunnel and hot-air balloon, border patrols with dogs and mock machine-gun fire, and tank conflicts at Checkpoint Charlie. And you thought Disney's Confederate battlefield plans sounded grim.
