Lucy Liu Lands A Role As A Heavenly Creature

Last month she grabbed headlines for her devilish lip-lock with Calista Flockhart, but it turns out Lucy Liu will still get her wings--as in the Farrah Fawcett'do. The "Ally McBeal" star is teaming up with Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz as the third curvaceous crimefighter in the big-screen remake of "Charlie's Angels." Liu solved the Angels' first assignment when she signed on to play the martial-arts expert posing as a supermodel, but all is far from heavenly on the Columbia Pictures production. With Barrymore and Diaz making a reported $15 million and $12 million respectively, it seems the film's $100 million budget isn't enough to go around. Insiders say Bill Murray, who was in talks to play right-hand man Bosley, dropped out two weeks ago after the producers couldn't come up with sufficient dough. This after a six-month star search in which everyone from Gwyneth Paltrow to Lauryn Hill reportedly turned down the No. 3 role because they found the "seven figure" paycheck third rate. Guess the studio will just have to skimp on the outfits.
