Out, Damned Spot!

Khaki pants have never impressed me, sartorially speaking. Nothing against casual Friday, but who wants to look like all those shlubs you work with? Khakis can end up with a baggy backside that some (mostly female) critics call "diaper butt." So I was noncommittal when I first slipped into a pair of Dockers Go Khakis with Stain Defender. They felt like every other pair of khakis I'd ever worn. But they really are different. Every thread in these bad boys is coated with Teflon. Steeling myself, I popped open a can of cranberry juice and poured it onto my leg. It beaded and ran off like rain from an umbrella. Tomato juice? Same thing. A paper towel absorbed the few tiny drops of liquid remaining (the mess on the floor took more effort to clean up). The company says the pants can work that trick through 30 wash cycles. They've also got a rubberized waistband and big pockets. I still wouldn't advocate khakis as a fashion choice, but I have to admit: these are some Nice Pants.

TIP: Perfect for the guy who always seems to be wearing his lunch.
