Hot Spot: The Palazzo, Las Vegas

The Palazzo has a lot to boast about. Together with its sister property, the Venetian, it is now the world's largest resort by room count—7,100, to be exact. It's also Las Vegas's tallest hotel tower, and it was recently named the world's largest "green" building, proving that sometimes bigger is better.

Rooms: With 3,066 suites, from $199 to $899, the Palazzo is truly palatial. This generous attitude toward space extends to the rooms, which clock in at a minimum of an enormous 67 square meters. Décor is decadent but restrained, with velvet upholstery, dark woods and high-thread-count sheets. Techie touches include motorized window shades and three flat-screen TVs in each suite.

Food: Vegas has a reputation as a foodie's paradise, and the Palazzo is no exception. It features signature outposts from such celebrated names as Mario Batali, Wolfgang Puck and Emeril Lagasse. A standout is Restaurant Charlie by Charlie Trotter—try the hand-harvested sea scallops with parsley and yogurt ($42) and wash them down with a rhubari ($22), a daiquiri made with rhubarb juice.

Spa: The Canyon Ranch spa offers an extensive list of treatments, including the Deluxe Conditioning Body Scrub ($310), an intensely hydrating 100-minute service. Soon to open is Aquavana, a suite of "thermal spa cabins, experiential showers, cold rooms and thermal bathing experiences."
