'The Godfather'

The 1972 masterpiece by Francis Ford Coppola was based on the novel by Mario Puzo and showcases some of America’s finest actors, including Marlon Brando and Al Pacino. It took home the Oscar for best picture and is considered one of the top films of the 20th century. The Godfather has been imitated ad nauseam, but never equaled. Even Coppola’s two sequels fail to live up to the glory of the original.
