THRILL FACTOR: MEMORIES OF ELVIS
The very definition of an old-school thrill ride, this 70-foot-tall wooden roller coaster has a rich history with rock royalty: in 1970s Memphis, Elvis Presley rented out Libertyland Amusement Park to ride the Zippin Pippin for hours at a time, undisturbed by fans. After years of neglect and decay, the ride was purchased last year by Green Bay city officials and rebuilt at family-friendly Bay Beach. "There's something about a wooden coaster that bridges the age gap," says Joel Bullock, who critiques rides at coastercritic.com.
