The Scariest Summer
Parks are upping the fear factor this year with new coasters, flight simulators, and full-on vertical drops. (Bring your Pepto-Bismol.)

THRILL FACTOR: SPINNING WHILE FALLING
So what if this vertical roller coaster is named after a comic-book superhero responsible for one of this summer's lousiest movies? The Green Lantern—the only ride of its kind outside Sweden—is intense. Sitting four abreast and back to back, riders are strapped into seats capable of independently rotating 360 degrees. And then they're off--pinwheeling head over heels down a vertiginous zigzagging track. The ride hits speeds of 37 miles per hour, so chronic barfers and motion-sickness sufferers—or anyone who's not a superhero—need not apply.
