How well does the United States care for its wounded and impaired when they come home? The question has profound moral implications. More than 50,000 service members have been banged up or burned, suffered disease, lost limbs or sacrificed their mental well-being while implementing American policies in dangerous places. The stories of these soldiers raise concerns that the country is failing to meet its most basic obligations to those who fight its wars.
